Việt Nam, situated in Southeast Asia, shares its northern border with China, western border with Laos and Cambodia, and eastern and southern borders with the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. With an S-shaped outline, Vietnam's territory stretches longitudinally but is narrow horizontally, with the narrowest point from east to west being 50 km. With a coastline of 3,260 km, not to mention thousands of islands and archipelagos, Vietnam boasts a significant advantage in terms of maritime resources. Thus, the East Sea (South China Sea) holds vital economic and strategic importance for Vietnam.

4. Natural Tourism Conditions
The geographical features of our country are very diverse and classified according to natural regions. With 3/4 of the area being hills and mountains with many large mountain ranges and plateaus, mainly concentrated in the North and West such as the Dong Trieu, Bac Son, Ngan Son, Hoang Lien Son, Truong Son mountain ranges, and the Sơn La, Moc Chau plateaus in the North, the Kon Tum, Pleiku, Dak Lak, Lam Vien plateaus in the Central Highlands. The flat area accounts for only 1/4 of the territory and is mainly concentrated along the coast. The two largest deltas are the Red River and Mekong River deltas, which are also the two economic development centers and the most densely populated areas in the country.

Our country has a dense river network, running in the west-east and north-south directions. Major rivers include the Red River, Da River, and Thai Binh River in the north, and the Tien River, Hau River, and Dong Nai River in the south. Annually, these rivers often flood during the rainy season, causing difficulties for production and daily life, but in return, they deposit a large amount of alluvium for the delta areas.
Located in the tropical monsoon climate zone, the weather on the Vietnam tourist map often fluctuates and varies by region. From the Bach Ma range outward, there are usually two main seasons: dry and cold northeast monsoon in winter and dry hot southwest monsoon and hot humid southeast monsoon in summer. With abundant rainfall, high humidity, and average annual temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius, Vietnam's climate is very suitable for developing a humid tropical monsoon ecosystem, with diverse natural characteristics and abundant flora and fauna resources.
5. Economic-Social Tourism Characteristics
Being a nation with a traditional agricultural development, the majority of Vietnam's population still engages in agriculture. Since the renovation period in 1986, Vietnam's economy has undergone significant changes and growth, with a positive economic restructuring towards increased industrial and service sectors. Currently, the country is aiming to develop into an industrialized nation with an average GDP growth rate of 5% per year. In terms of economic geography, Vietnam is divided and developed into key economic and social regions in the North, Central, and South.
In particular, in the tourism sector, it is experiencing rapid growth and making a significant contribution to the national economy. With considerable tourism potential, Vietnam has become an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists, thanks to its diverse destinations on the Vietnamese tourist map, ranging from North to South, from plains, mountains, to islands, rich in natural resources and cultural values.
Thus, thanks to its diverse and abundant resources, tourism in particular, and other economic sectors of Vietnam in general, hold many development advantages. However, the challenge is how to effectively and sustainably exploit these resources for development. From the perspective of tourism development, diversifying destinations on the Vietnamese tourist map is crucial, but always ensuring that quantity goes hand in hand with quality, to keep Vietnam as an ideal tourist destination in the region and the world.
